Mexico 2008
General Information
- the monarch butterfly overwintering colonies are
located in the Transvolcanic Mountain Range in the state
of Michoacan, several hours west of Mexico City
- the one-week trips are conducted in late winter and
are led by an experienced teacher
- the trips are made up of teachers from Canada and the
United States
- the trips incorporate trips to two monarch butterfly
sanctuaries, Mexican cultural activities, and a visit to
a Mexican school
- fellowship opportunities are provided to successful
applicants to help towards the cost of the trip
- funding for Canadian teacher fellowships is provided
by the W. Garfield Weston Foundation
- you are responsible for obtaining release time from
your school board
- details about how to apply for a fellowship for 2009

Please note that the Mexico trips and fellowships are
only available to teachers who have taken the three-day
workshop, "Teaching and Learning with Monarch
Butterflies."
Trip Dates
There are three trips planned to Mexico for 2009. They
are:
- February 14-21, 2009
- February 28-March 7, 2009
- March 7-14, 2009
